City of Seattle grants $97,000 to Chicken Soup Brigade, Lifelong AIDS Alliance’s food program, to feed seniors and people with life-threatening illnesses
Grant is a huge boost for Chicken Soup Brigade’s Expanded Mission Project
Seattle—May 11, 2006—Chicken Soup Brigade, Lifelong AIDS Alliance’s food program, has received a $97,000 grant from the City of Seattle to deliver meals and groceries to 200 homebound senior, disabled, and seriously ill people, including patients of the Northwest Kidney Center, Seattle Housing Authority residents, and clients of Senior Services. These people, like all Chicken Soup Brigade clients, will receive meals made according to their individual dietary needs.
“We are very excited about this partnership because making food for people who are sick is what we do best and we want to share this expertise with people beyond those living with HIV/AIDS,” said Lifelong Executive Director Tina Podlodowski. “In addition, this will allow our program to grow and improve for all of those that we serve.”
For more than 20 years, the Chicken Soup Brigade has been delivering fresh prepared meals and groceries to people living with HIV/AIDS in Seattle/King County. Recently, the food program expanded its mission to include people living with other life-challenging illnesses, including cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
