DEFINITION:
The primary role of the part-time Cook is to support all aspects of the Fresh Meal Program and to prepare and serve meals at the Lyon Building, an AIDS housing facility where hot meals are served to residents (up to 65ppl) five days a week.  This position works closely with the Executive Chef and Chef De Cuisine to ensure the ongoing production of meals and preps in CSB’s kitchen as necessary.  The part-time Cook reports to the Chef De Cuisine.  This is a part-time, non-exempt, union, regular position.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with the Executive Chef and Chef De Cuisine in the preparation and packaging of meals for the Prepared Meal program.
2. Help complete weekly prep list with the assistance of other kitchen staff and volunteers.
3. Participate in creation, preparation, and packaging of modified meals.
4. Prepare and serve meals at the Lyon Building.
5. Maintain and report inventory of the Lyon Building Meal Program as needed for purchasing
6. Manage volunteers on shift with other kitchen staff.
7. Assist in preparation of food for in-house catering, congregate meals, and special events.
8. Uphold the standards of excellence within the Prepared Meal program.
9. Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the kitchen and the Lyon Building kitchen.
10. Perform all assigned duties of position.

• Maintain confidentiality of financial, donor and client records.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Three or more years of experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Quantity cooking and preparation of modified meals a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and coordinate volunteers
• Able to organize, prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.
• Possess an understanding of professional boundaries.
• Proven ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to respond quickly to change.
• Ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under stressful conditions.
• Valid Washington State Food Handlers Permit and thorough knowledge of food safety practices
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and walk up one flight of stairs.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
• Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule that will include evenings and weekends.
