LIFELONG AIDS ALLIANCE PREPARES FOR THE 22ND ANNUAL SEATTLE AIDS WALK ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2008.

Lifelong is proud to honor 22 years of walking to fight HIV and AIDS in the Puget Sound region and invites you to participate by walking, volunteering or donating.

Seattle, Washington - For 22 years, Lifelong AIDS Alliance has produced the Seattle AIDS Walk, a commemorative fundraising event to raise money for Lifelong’s services.  The proceeds from the Walk support Lifelong in their mission to care for people affected by HIV and AIDS, to prevent new infections, to advocate for change, and to create a supportive community.

In 2007, Lifelong’s staff and volunteers worked together to cook 133,957 fresh meals to complement each individual’s dietary needs, and packed and distributed 31,323 grocery bags with protein, fresh fruits and vegetables.  Lifelong also provided case management for 1,183 clients, awarded $408,000 in financial support for housing, and provided health insurance support for 1,437 individuals.  Additionally, Lifelong distributed 248,470 condoms and safe-sex messages to high-risk populations.  All of this phenomenal work would not be possible without the funds raised from the Seattle AIDS Walk.

There are many ways to participate in the Seattle AIDS Walk, and you sign up for all of them at www.SeattleAIDSWalk.org. You can sign up as an Individual Walker or create a Walk Team along with your friends, family and colleagues.  Though each supporter walks for their own purpose, every supporter walks for a common hope for a future without HIV and AIDS.  If you cannot attend the Walk, you can also sign up as a Virtual Walker.  Additionally, the Seattle AIDS Walk would not be possible without the efforts of over 300 volunteers, which is another way of participating.  You can also donate to the Walk and know that your contribution makes a difference. The Seattle AIDS Walk website is the ultimate fundraising tool that makes it easy for you to send out e-mails to your family and friends inviting them to support you in the Walk.

The 22nd Annual Seattle AIDS Walk would not be possible without the generous support of its Sponsors:  MOMsPharmacy, Nordstrom, Microsoft, Amtrak, Ernst & Young, GSBA, Heller Ehrman LLP, Safeco Insurance Foundation, and Swedish Medical Center. Special thanks to the Seattle AIDS Walk’s Media Partners: Comcast, Seattle Weekly, MOViN 92.5, The Mountain 103.7, and Seattle Gay News.

On behalf of everyone at Lifelong AIDS Alliance, thank you for your support and for making a difference in the lives of others.  For more information please visit www.SeattleAIDSWalk.org or call 206.323.WALK.

Lifelong AIDS Alliance is committed to preventing the spread of HIV, and to providing practical support services and advocating for those whose lives are affected by HIV and AIDS.  LLAA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
