Special Events
Get on our special events email list to sign up to volunteer for special events as you receive emails about them throughout the year. Events include Seattle AIDS Walk & 5K Run, Dining Out For Life, Lifelong Annual Benefit Breakfast, Gay Pride, and third party events.
Dining Out For Life
Volunteer as an ambassador at one of Lifelong's participating Dining Out For Life restaurants on the last Thursday of April.
Seattle AIDS Walk & 5K Run
It takes over 400 volunteers and staff to be able to put on the Seattle AIDS Walk & 5K Run each year.
Lifelong Annual Benefit Breakfast
This is Lifelong's major donor event that occurs in late winter.
Gay Pride
Celebrate Gay Pride with Lifelong by marching in the Gay Pride Parade or by doing outreach at the Pride Festival.
Third Party Events
Volunteer to help out our supporters as they throw their own fundraising events.

Volunteer Job Descriptions
Special Events Volunteer
Commitment: 2-4 hours whenever you sign up for a special event from our special event email list. Shifts, days, and times will vary based on event specifications.
Report to: Volunteer Coordinator or other departmental staff.
Basic Function: Help with special events. Lifelong’s special events include the Seattle AIDS Walk & 5K Run, Dining Out for Life, Lifelong Annual Benefit Breakfast, Gay Pride, and third party events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Duties and responsibilities will vary based on event. Some examples may include:
• Setup or breakdown of event.
• Passing out materials such as AIDS Ribbons, T-shirts, etc.
• Checking in or registering events guests.
• Staffing tables or booths.
• Serving food or beverages.
• Greeting, thanking, coat check, front door, or ushering.
• Collecting donations.
• Passing out safer sex kits.
• Decorating.
• Cheerleading or Course Safety Monitoring.
• Acting as an ambassador for Lifelong and talking about the event and Lifelong's programs and services.
• Encourage people to get tested for HIV and other STD's.
• Any other duties as assigned by Lifelong staff or as required by event.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Willingness to learn basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS and about HIV/AIDS prevention.
• Comfort with high public visibility. Outgoing personalities are a plus.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of and comfort with diverse sexual identification.
• Events experience a plus.
• Personal awareness and emotional maturity.
• Comfortable working with people of varying socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and ethnic diversity.
• Comfortable talking about issues of HIV/AIDS prevention and the Lifelong agency.
• Comfortable talking about Lifelong special event details to events guests as instructed by Volunteer and Special Event Department staff.
Dining Out For Life Ambassador
It has been proven time and time again that the Dining Out For Life restaurants that have volunteer ambassadors raise the most money. Invite your friends and family to dine at your restaurant shift, welcome and thank patrons and explain the event to them, answer questions about Lifelong AIDS Alliance, and distribute donation/raffle envelopes and oversee the donation box. At the end of your shift, return the donation box to Lifelong AIDS Alliance and go home satisfied that you had a good time and helped a great cause!
Dining Out For Life is usually the last Thursday in April. Volunteers must be able to stand for 4-6 hours, be knowledgeable about Lifelong’s mission and services and be comfortable approaching patrons in a restaurant environment. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night shifts are available.

Seattle AIDS Walk & 5K Run Volunteer
This is Lifelong's largest fundraiser and we want everyone to be involved! Not everyone can donate money, but lending a hand to help out is equally as vital to the success of this huge event.
The Seattle AIDS Walk & 5K Run usually takes place the last Saturday in September. Volunteer tasks include Setup, Greeters and Guides, AIDS Memorial, Donation Drop, Runner Registration, Parking, T-shirts, Start Line Cheerleader, Midpoint Cheerleader, Finish Line Cheerleader, Course Safety Monitor, After Party and Breakdown,

Lifelong Annual Benefit Breakfast

Gay Pride
March in the Seattle Gay Pride Parade with other Lifelong volunteers, clients, staff, and supporters. Join our rainbow and red parade contingent and help hand out approx 20,000 safer sex kits to the Seattle gay community while marching and waving to the crowds. Third Party Events
Volunteer at Third Party Events to help others raise funds for Lifelong. Tasks vary based on the event and could include everything from coat check to decorating to serving food and beverages to staffing an information table.
